Assosiates at EPAM to take part in the 'Antitrust Legislation In Russia' conference

Vedomosti newspaper, together with the Non-Profit Partnership for Competition Support with the support of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (the FAS) will host annual conference ‘Antitrust Legislation In Russia’ on October 10, 2014 in Moscow and October 12-13, 2014 in Brussels. Dimitry Afanasiev, Chairman of EPAM, Natalia Korosteleva, Partner, Head of Competition Law Practice, and Counsel Anna Numerova will speak at the conference.

The conference will bring together representatives of the legislative, executive and judicial powers, as well as leading lawyers and economists to discuss the state of the antitrust policy at  present and its compliance to the best world standards. The event will focus on the activities of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia to ensure the effective functioning of commodity markets, the prevention, control and suppression of monopolistic activity and unfair competition.

The Chairman Dimitry Afanasiev will moderate the plenary session "Antitrust Policy at the Present Stage", in which participants will discuss what the Government and the FAS Russia have to take into account when developing antitrust policy, whether competition in Russia has improved and in which markets, as well as ways of avoiding errors. Head of the FAS Russia Igor Artemyev will be the keynote speaker of the session.

During the panel, "Key Events of 2014 and Their Effect on Antitrust Regulation" Partner Natalia Korosteleva and Deputy Head of the FAS Russia Andrey Tsyganov will discuss a number of topical issues: a wider circle: more external platforms to discuss the FAS initiatives; international antitrust regulation and factors affecting it, including international cooperation in antitrust investigations; deepening Eurasian integration; precedential decisions of higher courts that affected the antitrust regulation.

In addition, Counsel Anna Numerova will moderate the session "Private Litigations", which will be held on October 13 in the framework of the Brussels agenda. This session will touch upon the appropriateness of these litigations in the framework of the Russian law and the changes that must be made in the legislation and juridical practice in order for the case participant to fully use the institution’s potential.
