Mikhail Kazantsev Will Speak at RSPP Forum on the Prospects for the Development of the Russian Energy Sector as Part of Russian Business Week 2021

On November 10, 2021, the Energy Forum “Prospects of Development of the Russian Energy Sector amid the European Carbon Regulation” will be held within the framework of the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists (RSPP) Russian Business Week 2021. The forum is held jointly by the RSPP Electrical Energy Commission and the Energy Policy and Energy Efficiency Committee. Mikhail Kazantsev, Partner and head of Natural Resources Practice at EPAM, is to speak at the forum.

The topics for discussion are 

• an assessment of the consequences of the cross-border carbon regulation mechanism in the electric power industry and other important areas of the Russian energy sector;
• possible means of protecting  the interests of industries in Russia through amendments to regulatory legal acts under the framework of the Russian Federation’s relationship with the European Union;
• formulating the concept of “environmental regulation” in Russia, which will be comparable in scale to the global “green” agenda and would enable Russia to take a proactive role in setting “green” regulations internationally.

Mikhail Kazantsev will speak on the new environmental controls, the EU cross-border carbon regulations, and will address the draft law introducing carbon neutral certificates in the Russian Federation.
