On 13 - 14 November 2008 the methodological conference on “Studying Alternative Dispute Resolution as Part of Higher Education and Supplementary Training” sponsored by EPAM, was held at the Law School of the Saint Petersburg State University.
The conference focused on sharing Russian and international experience and teaching methods relating to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). In terms of practice the event was aimed at developing model ADR educational programs and the preparation of recommendations for the Ministry of Education and Science urging for such programs to be incorporated in higher law education standards.
Plenary meetings were attended by researchers from leading law schools, counsel from large law firms and experts of Conflict Resolution Centers from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Saratov, Voronezh, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don and other Russian regions.
Managing partner Ilya Nikiforov and Sergey Usoskin and Vladimir Talanov from the Saint Petersburg Law Offices of EPAM gave a joint presentation on “Mock Trials for Studying the ADR basics: Experience of the Saint Petersburg State University”. Attorney Vladislav Arkhipov from the Law Offices presented a report on “Mediation: A Discipline of the Theory of Law”.
The methodological conference was sponsored by EPAM.
