Sergiy Grebenyuk to moderate at UBA forum dedicated to the first anniversary of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine

Sergiy Grebenyuk, Counsel of EPAM in Ukraine, will moderate the sessionat Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) Forum dedicated to the first anniversary of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine. The event will be held on November 19, 2013 in Kyiv.

Sergiy Grebenyuk will moderate the session dedicated to equality of the parties in criminal proceedings.  

Forum is aimed at large-scale analysis of the results and the application of the new Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Experts will decide on the areas for further work on improving existing rules and eliminating reveled problems.

Key topics for the discussion: 

 first results of new rules application;

  • equality of the parties in criminal proceedings: Myth or Reality?
  • rights of persons in pre-trial proceedings;
  • functions of the investigating judge during pretrial proceedings;
  • possibility to appeal for the defense in criminal proceedings;
  • new Bar system in Ukraine, warranties of advocacy;
  • the rights of persons held in secret investigation;
  • application of the European Court of Human Rights decisions in criminal proceedings.

Forum will be attended by authors of current Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine, investigating judges, representatives of General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, foreign experts and leading Ukrainian attorneys.
