International Conference on International Arbitration and State Courts: Balance of Interests to Take Place in Collaboration with EPAM
The International Conference on “International Arbitration and State Courts: Balance of Interests”, organised by ICC Russia jointly with ICC International Court of Arbitration and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will take place in partnership with EPAM in Moscow on 1st December 2010.Traditionally at the end of each year, the ICC Russia holds joint international conferences with ICC International Court of Arbitration and Russian Supreme Arbitrazh Court that are dedicated to cooperation between state and arbitration courts, and to relevant development trends in the international arbitration.
The subject will continue to be discussed at the event this year amongst traditionally invited leaders of the Russian Supreme Arbitrazh Court and ICC ICA leaders and practicing judges of state courts from a number of European countries.
Leading Russian and international experts in international arbitration, including practicing lawyers, arbitrators of arbitration courts and academics from leading Russian universities will speak at the conference.
Ilya Nikiforov, a managing partner at EPAM will deliver a paper outlining the Russian Federation as a venue of choice for arbitration.
The main focus of the conference will be on:
• Scope and limitations of state courts control/ supervision in respect to arbitration courts;
• Identifying relevant law and application of foreign law in international disputes;
• Issues of arbitrability, enforcement of arbitration awards and the arbitration support by state court.
The Conference is timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Russia being officially accepted by the ICC World Council to the World Business Organization and unanimously approved the establishment of ICC Russia. The event will be concluded with a formal reception.
