Georgy Sur spoke at a sports law conference
On 15-16 April, 2014, Tbilisi (Georgia) hosted a conference entitled “State's Sports Policy and Legal Framework in Georgia". The event was organised by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia. Georgy Sur, Head of Sports Law Practice at EPAM, participated in the event.
Conference participants discussed the State's sports policy of Georgia, sports legal framework and sports arbitration, tax policy and state’s funding in sport. The main aim of the conference was to inform the audience of the current developments in the field of the state's sports policy; discuss challenges and find opportunities; promote cooperation and coordination of the stakeholders; and facilitate formation of modern sports legal framework.
More than 200 representatives, decision-makers and stakeholders from the Government and the Parliament of Georgia, Georgian National Olympic and Paralympic committees, sports national federations and clubs, international organizations and international experts as well as other honorable guests participated in the event.
Georgy Sur delivered a report on Striking balance - a comparative analysis of the Georgian Football Federation's, the Russian Football Union's, and the International Basketball Federation's Dispute Resolution Rules.
