Georgy Sur attends a round table entitled “Prospects for Development of the Courts of Arbitration in Russia. Legislative Regulation”

A round table entitled “Prospects for Development of the Courts of Arbitration in Russia. Legislative Regulation” was held on September 19, 2013 at the Russian State Duma as part of “Comfortable Legal Environment” project. Georgy Sur, the lead expert of EPAM International Arbitration and Litigation Practice, attended the event.

The following issues were discussed:

  • legal regulation of Russia’s courts of arbitration,
  • prevention of “puppet”, i.e. dependent courts of arbitration,
  • types of courts of arbitration,
  • arbitrators’ status,
  • need for self-regulating organizations within the arbitration justice sector.

Attending the event were deputies of the Russian State Duma, members of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the Russian Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, the Commissioner for Entrepreneurs’ Rights in the Russian Federation, representatives of CCI of Russia, Delovaya Rossia LLC, Opora Rossii, representatives of the courts of arbitration, the legal community and NGOs.
