Andrew Bastrakov Spoke at the Russian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Forum
On June 15, 2016, Association of Lawyers of Russia held Russian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Forum (SME Forum) “Small Business: Big Opportunities». The SME Forum took place at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg within St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2016. Andrew Bastrakov, Advocate at EPAM’ White Collar Crime Practice spoke at the event.
The objective of the Forum is to discuss the current climate for small and medium-sized business and the measures which need to be taken in order to strengthen its role in the Russian economy.
The SME Forum aims to facilitate the unlocking of potential among small and medium-sized businesses in Russia and to broaden dialogue with state bodies, while reducing administrative barriers, increasing the effectiveness of infrastructure, and assisting in the provision of financial and institutional support for MSEs. Invited participants in the SME Forum included representatives of federal and regional legislative and executive bodies, directors of small and medium-sized companies, directors of state and public organizations providing support to SMEs, and representatives of the banking sector, consultancy firms and legal services organizations.
Andrew Bastrakov spoke at the panel discussion Reducing Administrative Barriers to Doing Business during which representatives of Russian companies as well as Expert Centre under the Presidential Ombudsman for the Protection of Entrepreneurs’ Rights, St.Petersburg Union of Entrepreneurs, Russian Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance, OPORA Russia, Federal Tax Service of Russia, All-Russia Public Organization “Business Russia”, Association of Industrialists and Businessmen discussed the following issues:
- improving tax legislation,
- legal support for entrepreneurs,
- a single legislative base for SMEs,
- elimination of superfluity and duplication in the functions of the supervisory and regulatory organs.
