Denis Gavrilov to Attend the FAS Russia Conference on the Current State and Development of Competition Protection Laws

On February 5, 2021, the International Research-to-Practice Conference “The Current State and Development of Competition Protection Laws” was hosted in St. Petersburg by the FAS Russia, Yurist Publishing Group and the North-West Institute of Management, a branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of the National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA). Denis Gavrilov, Competition practice Counsel at EPAM, gave a report at the conference.

In 1991, the Russian government adopted Russia’s first ever antitrust law “On Competition and Restriction of Monopolistic Practices on the Commodity Markets”, which provided the basis for modern antitrust laws. The conference marked the thirtieth anniversary of this important antitrust law and was also dedicated to the tenth anniversary of Konkurentnoe Pravo magazine as well as Russian Science Day.

The guests and attendees of the conference were welcomed by the Head of the FAS Russia Maxim Shaskolsky, the Dean of the MSU Economic Faculty Professor Alexander Auzan, and the Director of the RANEPA North-West Institute of Management Victor Shamakhov. At the plenary session, Deputy Heads of the FAS Russia Sergey Puzyrevsky and Andrey Tsyganov made their reports on the development of antitrust laws in the Russian Federation.

Counsel Denis Gavrilov spoke at the session “Economic Aspects of the Antitrust Regulation”. Denis addressed the changes in the paradigm of antitrust regulations in the digital era and the specifics of digital market analysis, including various digital platforms (aggregators and marketplaces).
