In late 2017, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) established the Task Force on Arbitration of Climate Change-Related Disputes within its Commission on Arbitration and Amicable Dispute Resolution. Evgeny Raschevsky, partner and head of international arbitration and litigation practice at EPAM, represents ICC Russia in the Task Force.
The team of lawyers of EPAM’ Minsk office took on the role of legal counsel to Citigroup Global Markets Limited and Raiffeisen Bank International AG (being the joint lead managers) on issuance and placement of sovereign Eurobonds of the Republic of Belarus totaling to $ 600m. The transaction completed on March 1, 2018.
Litigation attorneys from the St. Petersburg Office of EPAM have defended the interests of Razvitie Zdorovia i Sporta LLC in a dispute over the recovery of billions of roubles’ worth of losses. The Commercial Court upheld the view taken by the Firm’s associates and dismissed the claim seeking the recovery of over RUB 1 billion. In addition, the Commercial Court granted a counterclaim filed by Razvitie Zdorovia i Sporta seeking to recover RUB 100 million from the plaintiff.
On February 8, 2018 the State Duma Committee for the Financial Market held a meeting to appoint Elena Avakyan, Counsel at EPAM and Executive Director of Non-Profit Partnership For Advancement of Corporate Law, to the Expert Council for Legislative Support to the Securities and Derivatives Market.
On February 9, Moscow hosted a congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), its agenda covered inter alia election of new members to the RSPP Executive Board. Following the voting, Dmitry Dyakin, partner and a co-head of the litigation practice at EPAM, was elected to the RSPP Executive Board.
The Commission has been formed as part of the Russian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce - the World Business Organization (ICC Russia). Senior associates Anastasiya Boytsova, Deputy Head of Environmental and Technical Regulations Practice, and Julia Filatkina, joined the Commission.

On 25 January 2018, Partner Tatyana Nozhkina headed the White Collar Crime Practice at EPAM’ St. Petersburg office. Tatyana is experienced in handling economic, malpractice, corruption, and tax-related cases. She represents clients in both pre-trial proceedings and before courts of general jurisdiction, including the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, as well as during prosecutorial investigations.
EPAM has announced the promotion of 3 senior associates based in Moscow – Andrey Bastrakov, Dmitry Kaysin and Vyacheslav Yugay – to counsel, effective 1 January 2018.
BlaBlaCar, an international carpooling service, instructed EPAM following a court decision to block the company’s Russian website in response to the prosecutor’s office suit. The prosecutor likened BlaBlaCar’s activities to those of taxi operators who distribute fares to drivers without a taxi licence.
On 01 December 2017, following a decision by the Council of the Federation Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, Dmitry Lipin, Associate at EPAM’ Public Policy and Legislation Practice, was appointed a member of the Expert Advisory Board on Civil Law, Civil Procedural Law, Commercial Procedural Law and Enforcement Proceedings.
On 01 December 2017, the Institute of Modern Arbitration presented Young IMA - its new initiative launched in the form of a forum, bringing together students and young practitioners in the field of dispute resolution.
On November 24, 2017, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (FAS) approved the petition to establish a joint venture by Yandex N.V., and Uber International S.V.. EPAM acted as the main legal adviser when seeking approval of the transaction from the FAS.
On 16 November, the Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia) Monitoring and Oversight Committee, held its first session since the renewal of its operations. Among those attending was Andrey Porfiriev, Partner at EPAM.
