Attorneys of the Litigation Practice at EPAM have successfully represented enterprise Morsvyazsputnik, the only Russian supplier of INMARSAT satellite communications services, in a contractual dispute with Glonass North-West. The associates are now to represent Morsvyazsputnik against the company in compulsory liquidation proceedings.
Our client signed a contract with Glonass North-West to develop a microprocessor-controlled device for an Industrial Internet of Things telematics system. The system was transferred to the client, but no payment was received. Thanks to the efforts of the Firm’s associates, the court ruled in favour of our client, ordering Glonass North-West to pay its debt to Morsvyazsputnik. However, Glonass North-West failed to comply with the court’s ruling: as it later transpired, they had no funds with which to pay the debt. The company’s creditors have now filed a petition for compulsory liquidation, and the Firm is representing Morsvyazsputnik, Glonass North-West’s largest creditor, in the proceedings.
Senior Associates Evgeny Gurchenko and Artem Magunov are handling the proceedings, along with Associates Ays Lidzhanova and Aleksander Svashenko and Junior Associate Tebriz Tagiyev. The team is headed up by Ivan Smirnov, Managing Partner at our St. Petersburg office.
