Bankruptcy and Insolvency. Financial Rehabilitation as a New Chapter for Russia Forum, organised by C5, was hosted in Moscow today, where Mikhail Kazantsev, a Senior Lawyer of EPAM, gave a presentation.
On 25 January 2010, Victor Dumler a senior lawyer in the Dispute resolution practice at EPAM’ St Petersburg office, attended a seminar organised by the British –Russian Law Association, where he gave a presentation “You Have an Award, But What’s Next? Enforcing Foreign Arbitration Awards in Russia: Recent Experience.”
The award ceremony for the winners of “Russia’s Best Legal Department 2009” contest was held today in Moscow. The ceremony, sponsored by EPAM, was attended by over 200 top legal professionals in Russia, including the heads of legal departments – the nominees, Advisory Council members, partners from leading Russian and international law firms and public officials.
The first annual conference on Antimonopoly Regulation in Russia was held in Moscow on 30 October 2009 and included keynote presentations by the firm’s Antimonopoly experts Natalia Korosteleva and Evgeny Bolshakov.
The Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation and The Bank of New York Mellon, advised by EPAM, today announced the settlement of the litigation filed by the Customs Service against The Bank in the Moscow City Arbitration Court seeking $ 22.5 bn. in damages.

The Spanish Criminal Court today reviewed the prison sentence of 15 Russian sailors and ruled to release them on conditional early parole. The sailors were sentenced last year for smuggling to three years of imprisonment. The Russian citizens were represented by EPAM in affiliation with Spanish lawyers.
Kazan hosted the BRIC (Brasilia, Russia, India, China) International Competition Conference held from 1 to 3 September 2009, which covered the most important competition issues in boosting economies. Anton Kostenko, the Head of the Regulative Department of EPAM, talked at the session Interaction between Competition Authorities, Law Enforcement Agencies and Judicial Authorities in Anti-Cartel Activity.
The Russian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce – the World Business Organization (ICC Russia) has held another event from its ICC Russia Anti-Crisis Package series – a roundtable discussion entitled ‘Ways to Adapt Contractual Obligations. Current Problems in the Time of Crisis Seen Through the Real Estate Market’. The discussion was focused on ways to adapt contractual obligations in the current circumstances of economic instability as seen through the real estate market. The discussion was moderated by Dmitry Stepanov, a partner with EPAM Law.
The parties to the English law suit between Conn International Group LLC and EPAM and EPAM LLP have reached a full and complete settlement of the suit on mutually agreeable terms.
Since its foundation The International Bar Association has concentrated on publications and spreading materials, devoted both to IBA’s activity and law practice matters in different fields of law. In 2009 the Russian translated version of IBA Guidelines on Conflicts of Interest in International Arbitration was published. Ilya Nikiforov and Sergey Abesadze from EPAM are the co-authors of issue.
Maria Miroshnikova, a senior lawyer at EPAM and an expert on intellectual property issues, participated in a conference on Intellectual Property Rights and Means of Individualisation. She took part in a panel discussion on Future Developments in the Legal Protection of Intellectual Property.
