The awards ceremony for the winners of the Career Starter, the annual Student Academic Paper Contest in Russia, devoted to commercial legal services and organized by the Corporate Lawyer magazine in collaboration with the law department of the Moscow State University, was held on 25 June, 2010.
The event, which was attended by over 80 undergraduates from 40 universities across major cities in Russia, aims to encourage creativity amongst law students and promote a responsible approach to law studies.
EPAM is a keen contributor to the development of the legal education in Russia by supporting the contest every year. This year the firm provided support for several areas of the event, including Legal Support for Transactions and Criminal Law Protection of Business.
The award for the best paper in Criminal Law Protection of Business was granted to Lilit Nagapetyan, a third year student at the law department of the Moscow State University, who authored the paper titled “Criminal Liability for Enforcing or Repudiating a Transaction as a Means of Business Protection”. The author of the best paper in the Legal Support for Transactions section was Maxim Kuzmin, a fourth year student at the Higher School of Economics, who had researched the topic of “Amendment and Termination of Agreements Due to a Substantial Change of Circumstances”.
The winners of the contest were offered an internship at EPAM.
