Maxim specialises in banking and finance, corporate law, currency regulation, and counter-sanctions legislation. He has extensive experience advising on capital markets projects, including securitisation transactions; financing arrangements (including syndicated project finance, as well as debt restructurings); financial regulatory rule-making; and projects involving the establishment of joint ventures and M&A transactions, including within the financial sector.
Maxim’s experience includes, among others:*
- Advising on a landmark transaction involving bond financing raised by a concessionaire as part of the high-speed rail project between Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
- Advising on the debut securitisation of a consumer loan portfolio for Gazprombank, with a total value of RUB 5 bn.
- Advising a major company on the issuance of green bonds to finance an electric transport project.
- Providing comprehensive legal support for obtaining a professional securities market participant licence for brokerage activities.
- Advising an international mortgage bank, acting as lender, on the refinancing of a loan secured by Class A office real estate in Moscow, owned by one of Russia’s leading developers.
- Advising an international investment bank on a secured credit facility backed by major retail commercial real estate assets in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
Before joining the firm, Maxim worked in the banking and finance practice of an international law firm (which later became an independent Russian law firm) and at the Bank of Russia.
Maxim graduated with honours from the International Law Faculty of MGIMO University, completing his bachelor’s degree in 2020 and his master’s degree in 2022.
He is fluent in English, Spanish, and German.
