Litigation attorneys of EPAM have secured another victorydefending the world’s leading carpooling service BlaBlaCar in a cassation court.
A group of bus operators had filed a lawsuit against BlaBlaCar seeking to ban the latter’s operations in the Russian Federation and to prohibit information being posted on the BlaBlaCar platform.
Attorneys of the Firm managed to prove that the opponents were not authorized to raise such claims, as those are meant to protect the public interests. The court also acknowledged that there had been no legal reason to qualify the lawsuit as a class action.
Last autumn, the Firm’s litigation associates defended the service in the Moscow Arbitrazh Court, and in January 2020, in the appellate court. The Moscow District Arbitrazh Court also affirmed the case put forward by the attorneys of the Firm while hearing the case online.
The client was represented by Associate Ilya Novoselov and Junior Associate Anna Kalashnikova, as supervised by Valery Eremenko, Partner co-heading Litigation Practice.
