On September 21, 2011, Pavel Sadovsky spoke at the II Annual Conference Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Russia organized by Russian Business Forum.
The issue of protection of intellectual property remains extremely important. Despite the fact that intellectual property plays ever greater role in providing a competitive edge, Russia is still behind in this area, both at the individual company level and as a nation as a whole.
The event aimed to discuss legal and practical issues in protection of intellectual property in Russia, including such topics as:
- gaps in current laws and new initiatives;
- setting up a comprehensive intellectual property protection system;
- developing and implementing a corporate program to counter pirated goods;
- creating an efficient brand;
- protection of intellectual property rights in and outside courts;
- legal action against offenders and compensation of damages.
The event’s participants included representatives of the legislature, judiciary and executive, management of Russian copyright holders associations, experts from leading law firms, directors of legal departments from major corporate copyright holders, patent attorneys, copyright experts and intellectual property experts, and representatives of relevant industry ministries.
In his speech Pavel Sadovsky, Senior Associate at EPAM, shared his views about draft amendments to Part 4 of the Russian Civil Code.
