Maria Miroshnikova, a senior lawyer at EPAM and an expert on intellectual property issues, participated in a conference on Intellectual Property Rights and Means of Individualisation. She took part in a panel discussion on Future Developments in the Legal Protection of Intellectual Property.
In accordance with a Presidential Decree of 18 July 2009 N1108 “On Developments of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation” and following a directive of the Presidential Council for Codification and Developments of the Civil Code of the RF, the Private Law Research Institute has prepared a Concept for Development of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. “Intellectual Property Rights and Means of Individualisation” is an integral part of this document.
The Project is expected to be presented for discussion to the Presidential Council for Codification and Developments of the Civil Code of the RF.
The Concept will affect all companies whose activities are related to the use of intellectual property and means of individualization.
“The 18 months since the Part IV of the Civil Code of the RF came into effect have shown the need to make the intellectual property legislation even more transparent. This will broaden its access and understanding to copyright owners and other experts in the field, - noted Maria Miroshnikova.
Representatives of the State Duma, President Administration, Federal authorities including Rospatent, High Arbitration Court of the RF, academics, businessmen and the general public took part in the discussion. The results and recommendations of the discussion will be summarised and sent to the President’s Council and the Presidents Administration for consideration.
