Today Moscow hosted the International Training Conference “Russian Contract Law: A Course towards Modernization”, which was organised by The Contract Law Center of the Law Department at Lomonosov Moscow State University. EPAM provided organizational and financial support for the event.
The conference aimed to examine the proposals prepared by the Presidential Council for Codification of Civil Legislation to amend general provisions of the Russian Civil Code regarding transactions and representation, obligations and contract, and to develop recommendations to improve the national civil legislation to foster investment opportunities in Russia.
Invitations to the conference was sent to employees of the Russian Ministry for Economic Development, Russian Ministry for Industry and Trade, Russian Federal Antitrust Service, Russian Chamber of Trade and Industry, the Presidential Council for Codification of Civil Legislation, Russian Supreme Arbitrazh Court, representatives of major Russian companies and leading law schools and departments.
Vsevolod Baybak, Senior Lawyer at EPAM, delivered a report at a plenary session on “Liability for Breach of Contract”.
There was two roundtable discussions: “Implementation of Freedom of Contract Principle in Both Russian and Foreign Legislation” and “Legal Status of For-Profit Organization Management Contracts”. Tatiana Boyko, Lawyer at EPAM, spoke at the first roundtable discussion on “Waiver of Right – Required Concept for Developed Law Order”. The second roundtable discussion was moderated by Nikita Gurin, Advocate at EPAM. Nikita Gurin presented on “Individual Issues in Developing Legislation on Contracts with Managing Companies”, and Maxim Rasputin, Lawyer at EPAM, - on “Shareholders (Members) Agreements: Current Application Issues and Prospects of Reform”. Alan Bayramkulov, Advocate at EPAM, also delivered a report during of the conference.
