On 23 June 2011 the 8th International Forum “Russian Electricity Industry” took place in Moscow.
The Forum served as a platform for the key industry players to discuss industry problems that cannot be solved without replacing the outdated infrastructure and development of efficient energy storage and transmission systems for the grid facility complex.
Ivan Smirnov, Partner at EPAM, delivered a report titled “Creating Efficient Legal Environment for Liberalization of Markets, Development of Competition and Innovations”. In his presentation Ivan discussed the current state of the electricity industry, focusing on issues of legal regulation, and its trends and prospects. He also identified the problems that are a priority for the industry, including market de-liberalization, non-competitive conditions, a lack of incentives for innovations and investments, and suggested some possible solutions.
