EPAM has successfully protected the reputation of Sanofi Aventis, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, during a complex libel case against several Russian publishing houses.
Defamation against Sanofi Aventis Group JSC and Aventis Pharma JSC was committed by publishing untrue information, thereby discrediting the business reputation of the companies. The articles were published in a national Russian weekly newspaper, as well as on a number of websites.
Pavel Sadovsky, Senior Associate, Olga Semushina and Maksim Kuzmin, Associates, represented the Client before the Arbitrazh Court.
As a result of the hearing on July 17, 2012, the Moscow Arbitrazh Court, in its decision, fully satisfied the claims of the reputational claim, recognizing the information released by publishing companies, untrue and discrediting the business reputation of Sanofi Aventis. The Court also ordered the publishing companies to issue a rebuttal.
