Moscow, December 12, 2007. Man of the Year national award ceremony took place in Christ the Saviour’s Cathedral in Moscow. Among this year's prize winners are Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation; Alexii II, Patriarch; Leo Bokeria, cardio surgeon; Rodion Shedrin, composer; Alisher Usmanov, businessman. In the “Legal” nomination the award was given to Boris Puginsky, co-founder of and named partner in EPAM Law Firm for Contribution in the Legal Education in Russia.

National Man of the Year award was founded by the Russian Biography institute in 1993. It is awarded for major contribution in various fields (politics, economy, culture, medicine). The prizes are awarded to citizens of Russian Federation. Some nominations go to foreigners, also to companies and organizations. The prize Expert board is comprised of prominent politicians and scholars, religious, scientific and cultural figures, former award winners. The ceremony takes place in the Christ the Saviour’s Cathedral in Moscow.

Boris Puginsky is the originator of the concept of Commercial Law in Russia and tutor of most prominent Russian corporate law practitioners, as well as academics. Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation.

Boris I. Puginsky was born in 1941, in Elets. Studied law at the Moscow State University (LL.B., 1965), LL.M. in 1975, LL.D. in 1985. 1968-1992 – Worked as a State Arbitrator, head of Russian Arbitration. Professor (since 1974), Chair (since 1992) at the Commercial Law Department of the Moscow State University. In 1993 co-founded EPAM, a leading Russian law firm with offices in Moscow, St.Petersburg and an associated office in the U.K., EPAM LLP. Member of the Advisory Board under the Russian Government; Member of the Expert Committee under the Russian Supreme Arbitration Court and the Russian Ministry of Justice. Author of over 250 papers, including university textbooks; editor of a number of law magazines.
