Kazan hosted the BRIC (Brasilia, Russia, India, China) International Competition Conference held from 1 to 3 September 2009, which covered the most important competition issues in boosting economies. Anton Kostenko, the Head of the Regulative Department of EPAM, talked at the session Interaction between Competition Authorities, Law Enforcement Agencies and Judicial Authorities in Anti-Cartel Activity.
The conference was attended by officials of Russian and foreign competition agencies, delegates from CIS countries, international organisations and integration alliances, and officials of law enforcement agencies and judiciary, scholars and activists.
The delegates discussed a number of aspects of development and implementation of competition policy, including current issues of competition development, role of competition for development of measures to turn around the financial sector and a number of sectors of the economy, competition advocacy, and anti-cartel issues in boosting economies.
Anton Kostenko gave a presentation Fighting Cartels: Cooperation Needed, which covered some initiatives for enhancement of cooperation between antitrust authorities, law enforcement agencies and judiciary in fighting the cartels.
