EPAM partners speak at International Law Congress in Moscow on Law and Modernisation
The International Legal Conference Law and Modernization: Experience, Prospects, Trends, organised by the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) with the support of RIA Novosti and the Russian Bar Association took place in Moscow on December 1-2, 2011. The congress was attended by Dmitry Stepanov and Sergey Kovalev, Partners at EPAM Law.
The event brought together over 300 experts from leading law firms and corporates.
The major purpose behind the congress was to establish a unique platfom to engage all parties : lawyers, economists, scholars, and business leaders, in a full-fledged dialogue. The invitees included leading experts of the legal profession: officials from the Justice Ministry, representatives of international law firms, business associations and trade publications.
The congress dealt with pressing legal issues related to global social, economic and political objectives: the development and management of legal business, choice of the optimal model for lawyer’s professional career, government policies to modernize the legal system, aspects of business carried on by active law services market players.
Dmitry Stepanov, Partner at EPAM and a member of Non-Government Partnership “Advancement of Corporate and Financial Legislation", spoke on “In-House Lawyers. Corporate Legal Strategy” relating to corporate law and initiatives to amend the Civil Code.
Sergey Kovalev, Partner at EPAM, participated in the Litigation session, where the problems of case-law in Russia, the role of the case of law in Russia and abroad, and the perspective of creation a special court on intellectual property rights in Russia were discussed.
