Alexey Rizhkin Speaks at Meeting of Community Board of North-West Transport Prosecutor’s Office

On 21 March 2017, a scheduled meeting of the Community Board for the Defence of Entrepreneurs’ Rights and Corruption Control was held in St. Petersburg under the auspices of the North-West Transport Prosecutor’s Office and focused on the issues surrounding violations of customs legislation. Alexey Rizhkin, Senior Associate in the White Collar Crime Practice at the St. Petersburg office of EPAM, spoke at the event.

 The topics discussed included:

• results of the regulatory and supervisory authorities’ verification of compliance with Federal Law FZ № 294 in 2016;
• results of supervising custom authorities’ activities with regard to their implementation of administrative sanctions;
• issues related to law enforcement practices when taking administrative actions against international road carriers;
• issues related to law enforcement practices during the investigation of administrative offences concerning customs legislation.

Alexey Rizhkin spoke about the results of an analysis of the regulatory and supervisory authorities’ compliance with laws concerning administrative infractions in bringing legal entities to liability in 2016.

Representatives of public organisations, the Association of International Automobile Carriers in the North-western Federal District and the National Union of Customs Representatives also participated in the meeting.
