EPAM Advised BNP Paribas Fortis Private Equity Belgium on International Trade and Customs Issues

EPAM’ attorneys advised BNP Paribas Fortis Private Equity Belgium, part of BNP Paribas Group, on red flag analysis of contracts for the provision of freight forwarding and customs representative services and storage.

The research was conducted in connection with potential investment by the client in the group of commodity trading Russian companies. During the project the attorneys identified some red flags, in particular, the lack of registration of the contractor – a transport company, which was necessary for customs clearance.

The conclusions of the analysis helped to protect the client from potential contractual risks as well as to develop an effective strategy in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation for its future investments.

A team from the Firm’s St. Petersburg office supported the client, including International Trade & Customs Counsel Alexey Karchiomov, Associate Yulia Beliakova and Paralegal Arina Nikulushkina.
