Dmitry Stepanov Joins the Expert Group for Corporate Governance With the Governmental Commission for Economic Development and Integration

On March 26, 2020, the meeting of the Presidium of the Governmental Commission for Economic Development and Integration introduced new changes to the Expert Group for Corporate Governance, Special Administrative Districts, Bankruptcy Proceedings and Valuation, following it was joined by Dmitry Stepanov, Partner at EPAM.

Dmitry is one of the most renowned experts in corporate law. He has been deeply involved in the improvement of Russian laws and has over 15 years of practical experience.

Dmitry advised the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the Russian State Duma’s Property Committee on a large scope of principal laws, including the Federal Laws “On Joint-Stock Companies”, “On the Securities Market”, “On Insolvency (Bankruptcy)”. He was also engaged in the joint project of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for drafting of the model law “On Joint-Stock Companies” for the CIS countries.

Since 2016, Dmitry has been on the Working Group for Development of the Roadmap to Improve Corporate Governance with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. He is on the Presidium of the Arbitration Center with the Modern Arbitration Institute. Since 2017, he has been on the Expert Board for Corporate Governance with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. 

The Governmental Commission for Economic Development and Integration is a permanent body coordinating the efforts of executive authorities and liaising with research and public organizations, as well as the business community in development and implementation of steps meant to ensure sustainable development of the economy and certain financial industries and the real sector; protection of the domestic market; procurement of the economic integration; facilitation of the Russian Federation’s full WTO and OECD membership; implementation of the state policy for technical regulation, application of sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary measures, as well as protection of intellectual property; implementation of the Russian state policy for facilitation of the international development; securing economic growth, facilitation of structural reforms and coordination of the macroeconomic policy.
